Emu Oil Skin Care Products

We bring you unpretentious high quality products that have been quietly delivering spectacular results in solving all manner of skin and soft tissue problems. We have done testing on our own family, just to be sure. These products are made by caring folks living in a small farming community on the Canadian Prairies. They raise the livestock that provides the source of the emu oil on their own farm. When the birds are all grown, they are killed, and sold for their meat. The oil sack that is found under the skin on the emu's back is the source of the main ingredient in these products. We want you to know that, just in case you are concerned about any ethical issues. Using these products is similar to eating chicken or beef product, and would definitely be in conflict with a vegan life style.

As you may know, vitamin E oil, primrose oil, tea tree oil, jojoba oil and other essential oils work well to soothe the skin. There is an oil that moisturizes the skin even better - and has a host of other fabulous uses, too! Let us introduce you to emu oil: Emu oil is a completely safe, 100% natural emollient and moisturizer. It can be used all over the body, on skin, nails, and hair; on pets, to reduce itchiness from fleabites and to help animals have a shiny and healthy coat. Our emu oil contains no steroids, hormones or harmful chemicals, and is well known for its normalizing abilities - it can slow down an over-performing body function or speed up one that is not performing well enough. Please note that not all Emu oil is alike. Some emu oil processing destroys key constituents that rob consumers of benefits from this essential oil. Our Emu Oil is manufactured using a method to retain major constituents and their benefits.

How does Emu Oil work?

Emu oil works better than other natural oils for several reasons:

Why Emu Oil Works

Emu Oil is a complete source of essential fatty acids.

Essential Fatty Acids (EFA), fats that humans cannot synthesize, must be obtained from outside of our bodies. Much like vitamins and minerals they are essential to the body's functioning. Emu oil contains omega 3,6,9 essential fatty acids that can be delivered through the skin when used as a moisturizer. Emu oil possesses strong anti-inflammatory properties. Fibromyalgia and Arthritis sufferers have discovered Emu oil! It deserves a place in every household's medicine chest. It soothes insect bites and other irritating skin conditions.

Emu oil products help deliver the right fats into your body. Emu oil is reported to relieve irritable bowel, Krohn's disease, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, back pain, arthritis and joint pain, besides just making your skin looking great.

What ingredients do we use?

Our Emus are raised on feed controlled farms for quality and consistency control. All of our oil is processed in a Western Canadian Refinery. We use a low temperature refining process that results in superior, premium quality, natural Emu Oil with high anti-inflammatory biological activity. No harsh chemicals or solvents are used in our refining process. All of our oil exceeds the International Standards as defined by the American Emu Association Oils Standards Team. Our oils have higher than normal concentrations or Omega 3 & Omega 6 essential fatty acids. This is achieved through consistent, balanced nutrition programs followed on our farms.

Who makes the oil?

Everything starts of course with the Emu. At present all the emus used by our supplier are hatched and raised at Emerald Emu Ranch, fed the same custom feed mix and given the same water for their entire lives. They are processed when they are a minimum of 3 (three) years of age, as the fat matures at that age, yielding its full healing or anti-inflammatory potential. The feed formula was developed by owners of Emerald Emu Ranch over a period of 6 years and with many trials and adjustments. It is now near perfection and is Emu specific. The birds are thriving and giving yields of fat and meat far above industry standards.

Any birds purchased by Emerald Emu Ranch kept on the farm for at least 1 year to qualify for our Quality Assurance Program. All of e3 Emu Products are made from fat that comes from our own Emus. Our Ostrich fat is purchased through Ostrich Breeders that meet our Quality Assurance profile. The fat (Ostrich & Emu) is processed in British Columbia at a licensed certified Ratite oil facility. The finished product is sent back in a “refined state”. It is used in several cream formulations, bottled in its pure state, encapsulated or used in making soaps. The e3 products are offered by many retail outlets and distributors.

How is it processed?

Our fat refining process is as follows (cook refers to an individual batch of fat):

The cooks are continually purged of oxygen with food grade nitrogen. Temperatures are carefully monitored in order to sustain maximum essential fatty acid content and to minimize trans-fatty acids. A food grade Stainless Steel filtration system specifically designed for Ratite oils, takes the product through a 2- stage, 9- step filtration system to .2 microns. Continually purged of oxygen, this filtration system also includes an anti-bacterial stage. No pumps or chemicals are used during the refining process. “We are physical refiners”.

Once all of the fat has been processed a sample is taken and sent to an Independent laboratory for testing. We test for Peroxide Value (a test to check for rancidity in oils) we have a microbial analysis done and a fatty acid profile to determine the level of Omega 3, 6, & 9 essential fatty acids present. We also test for trans-fatty acid levels to see if there are any (there should be none). This guarantees Quality and Consistency as well as a Safety factor to ensure you, the consumer, get the best quality available.
