Dietary Sources Of Nutrients Are Best...
by Larry Meier
The TV cameras roll as the result of yet another antioxidant nutrition
study makes national news. The reporter quotes the sensational findings
and benefits of their latest "nutrient of the month".
As the camera scans the produce section of a local supermarket the reporter
comments that nutrition experts advise us "dietary sources of the nutrient
are best, because, though the study was based upon diets high in the nutrient,
there may be other nutritional factors found in whole foods that could
account for much of the benefit. These other factors are probably not
found in supplements."
If you have not already observed this quote, watch for it next time you
come across one of these announcements. It is significant that it is there
every time. It is there very simply because it is true. Doctors and scientists
know there are complex nutrient factors in foods that are not in isolate
supplements.
It is also well documented there are slight, and sometimes not-so-slight,
differences between the actual nutrient molecule itself in synthetic isolate
form versus the form found in food.
According to their studies, benefits of a good diet include greatly reduced
risk of cancer, heart disease and stroke, slowed symptoms of aging, increased
energy, natural regularity, longer life, fewer colds and flu symptoms,
less obesity, improved mental and athletic performance, disruption of
yeast infection, improved complexion and even an improved love life.
The problem is, most of us eat according to appetite and convenience
and then take isolate supplements in vain hope of undoing the damage done
by our less than perfect diets. Unfortunately, the approach of leaning
too heavily on isolate supplements may bypass many of the really effective
nutrient factors only obtainable through a good diet. Sadly, the results
of an inadequate diet combined with isolate supplements may he that we
end up facing the very health problems we were in hopes of avoiding by
investing in supplements. Our national disease statistics speak for themselves.
Certainly there are no guarantees on such matters, but there is an alternative.
Those who are wise will endeavor to make each day's diet better than the
one before. In addition to that good diet, they will add a Superfood concentrate
supplement.
While not as impressive in all-out potency as some of the mega-potency
isolates, genuine food concentrate nutrients are set in the context of
being in a food matrix and with a myriad of lesser known, yet obviously
very important cofactors intimately attached.
Isolates on the other hand are pharmaceutically pure synthetics, or identical-to-synthetic,
without any attachments to natural cofactors They are either manufactured
directly from synthetic chemicals (often petroleum derivatives) or "refined"
out of a natural source by repeated petroleum solvent processes. Sometimes
40 or more chemical processes are required to derive an isolate from its
natural source.
Such isolates account for well over 98% of the supplements currently
available to consumers. Even the so-called "natural" vitamin supplements
and mineral chelates begin with these isolate ingredients. All of these
isolate ingredients come from only 7 multinational chemical/pharmaceutical
conglomerates. The hundreds of "natural" vitamin companies justify calling
their products natural, for example, by reason that ascorbic acid (vitamin
C) is manufactured from glucose extracted from corn syrup (which is natural).
Other companies in their attempt to be "truly natural" will blend the
isolates with a substance such as acerola cherry extract or bioflavonoid
isolates and then label their products as "with whole food concentrates",
or "with natural bioflavonoid complex." These are only slight improvements.
Perhaps they would be of more significance if there weren't such a superior
alternative available.
Merely blending an isolate with a bit of natural material simply cannot
bring it up to the wondrous aliveness of a nutrient from nature's kitchen.
Blood tests in humans will indicate that genuinely natural, food contexted
vitamin C of a given potency will provide blood levels approaching 20
to 30 times higher than those of ascorbic acid isolates and as much as
7 times that of Ester - C poly-ascorbate synthetic. The genuinely natural
form in foods also stays available to the cells for up to 20 times longer.
Similar results to one degree or another have been observed across the
full spectrum of known nutrients. The bottom line is, the true, effective
at-the-cell nutrition of natural food nutrients is sometimes far better
than label potency might indicate.
As a side note: Food concentrate nutrients must be analyzed by the same
methods used to determine nutrients in foods, while the isolates can he
measured by the same methods used for synthetic chemical analysis. Either
of these methods only determines nutrient amounts and not nutrient effectiveness.
This is where the good diet studies go the next step to indicate superior
utilization and benefits available from the nature's kitchen form. Nature's
foods contain the full glory and context of a myriad of life-created cofactors.
Otherwise it is like saying that it takes only one paper clip to equal
all the iron in 2 lbs. of raisins - and therefore concluding, paper clips
are a superior, more concentrated source of iron.
Genuine, food-molecule-contexted nutrients will also yield superior results
for most people when tested via Applied Kinesiology as well as Vega, Voll
and Intero. Infra Red Spectrophotometer analysis, Ultra Violet Spectroscopy,
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectra Analysis and Fourier Transform-Infra
Red Analysis have established that life-created nutrient material is different
from USP isolates and that it is molecularly bound to proteins, complex
carbohydrates and other food constituents.
So, why doesn't every vitamin company switch to the far superior genuinely
natural 100% food concentrate form? First and foremost of course is price.
The chemical isolate form, or "USP grade material", costs only a fraction
as much for the same "label potency" of any given nutrient. This money
factor serves to vigorously censor free discussion. It supports the scientifically
despotic politics of potency.
As an added incentive, the isolate form also provides a longer shelf-life,
accommodating the typical 18 month transit time from manufacturer to vitamin
company, to wholesaler, to retailer, to consumer.
In addition, because the isolate form is alone, without any other complex,
bulky, natural factors like enzymes or proteins, it occupies much less
space and it is easier to hide the taste when there is less volume to
hide. In fact, a genuine Superfood concentrate supplement will require
about 30 times as much weight for a given potency. The isolate approach
simply discards the other 29 cofactor parts and keeps only the single
isolate portion, to which are added binders, fillers and coatings to bulk
it out to the size of a small, once-a-day pill.
At the other end of the supplement shelf are the Superfoods and Superfood
blends. These include spirulina tablets, blue-green algae capsules, cereal
grass juice powders as well as the various blends introduced in the wake
of our original Excela-50. These are sometimes quite good and I'm sure
they will meet some of your needs. However, none of these has added the
most potent genuine-food-concentrate-nutrient-complex as found only in
Exsula Gold. Nor do they encompass Gold's wide spectrum of Superfoods
Exclusive to Exsula Gold is across-the-board potency superiority well
above that of Superfoods or Superfood blends. We invite you to compare
our genuine Superfood nutrient potency to the other Superfoods Dollar
for dollar, gram for gram, you will see the value of Exsula Gold. We also
invite you to compare your benefits with Exsula Gold to those of any other
nutrition product and you will see why we can offer a 3-times-longer,
90-day unconditional satisfaction guarantee.
How could anyone believe that synthetic isolates are better than nature's
diverse and subtle treasures? Your body was designed and created to function
optimally on plentiful, genuinely natural nutrients and antioxidants.
