Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis), Blue Chamomile
(Matricaria chamomilia) |
| Essence |
A Traditional Remedy for Children |
| Function |
Chamomile comes in a number of varieties. Two varieties popular in
Aromatherapy are Roman and Blue (German). Chamomile is regarded as a very soothing oil. It
eases tension, anxiety, anger and promotes relaxation and peace. It has been applied as a
calming remedy for children for decades. It is useful in regulating the menstrual cycle
and is a skin tonic. Blue Chamomile contains more Azuline and is therefore more effective
than Roman Chamomile. |
| Usage |
5 drops placed in a full bath is a wonderful tonic for the skin and senses
at the end of the day. A couple of drops in a diffuser in a child’s room will calm
and relax. A couple of drops in a basin of warm water used as a compress on dry and itchy
skin will calm and rejuvenate. Blends well with bergamot, jasmine,
neroli, and clary sage,
lending a warm, fresh note when added in small quantities. |
