A recent seven-year study conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, on 9,000 women showed that those who have chronic acidosis are at greater risk for bone loss than those who have normal pH levels.

he scientists who carried out this experiment believe that many of the hip fractures prevalent among middle-aged women are connected to high acidity caused by a diet rich in animal foods and low in vegetables. This is because the body borrows calcium from the bones in order to balance pH.

Detoxify

Almost all of us are overloaded with toxins. We are constantly exposed to potentially dangerous toxins through the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the water we drink. An optimally functioning detoxification system is necessary for preventing disease and providing good health.

All disease is the direct result of accumulating toxins in the body. Unless and until you clean out your insides, diseases can only be in remission, prepared to resurface. And disease is not a thing to be removed, cured or killed. It is a process, a remedial action to be left to your immune system to deal with. With your amazing healing powers within, health will return when given a clean, balanced and well nourished terrain. Amino Acid Secrets|Podcast#75

Amino Acids

Many people cannot utilize their dietary protein, instead it is converted to sugars for fuel, or to fat for storage. This is due to lack of nutrition, malabsorption and exposure to toxic metals (silver amalgam dental fillings, vaccinations, lead paint, and a wide variety of industrial products). Inhibiting protein breakdown causes inadequate nutrient absorption & toxin elimination. This wreaks havoc on your immune system, resulting in pain and many chronic & degenerative diseases.

Amino acids have to be first digested before they can be assimilated. Amino Acids are broken down in the stomach by pepsin, which is converted from pepsinogen by lowering the pH of the stomach with hydrochloric acid. If the pH of the stomach doesn’t lower to around 2.5, the first stage of protein breakdown fails.

The semi-digested food moves to the small intestine where a pancreatic enzyme named trypsin, along with other proteases (protein-breaking enzymes) breaks down the protein further. The above are all the stages of digestion.

The next important phase is assimilation. Intestinal villi (the little finger-like projections in the small intestine that are responsible for assimilation) shrink in response to stress. Stressed people don’t assimilate food – of any kind. The only known substance that will rejuvenate the small intestinal villi is the amino acid L-Glutamine, which turns into glutamic acid to cross the
blood-brain barrier where it is converted into glutamate (the most stimulatory neurotransmitter in the brain) and eventually breaks down into GABA (the most inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain).

Living in our industrialized society presents a large number of potential problems that inhibit protein digestion, leading to amino acid deficiency: HCl, proteases, L-Glutamine and others, all of which can slow or stop digestion and assimilation.

Biorhythms and Health|Podcast#74

The theory of biorhythms claims that one’s life is affected by rhythmic biological cycles, and seeks to make predictions regarding these cycles and the personal ease of carrying out tasks related to the cycles.

These inherent rhythms are said to control or initiate various biological processes and are classically composed of three cyclic rhythms that are said to govern human behavior and demonstrate innate periodicity in natural physiological change: the physical, the emotional, and the intellectual (or mental) cycles.

Others claim there are additional rhythms, some of which may be combinations of the three primary cycles. Some proponents think that biorhythms may be potentially related to bio-electricity and its interactions in the body.

Path To Freedom
The Dervaes family runs Path to Freedom, an urban homesteading project, in Pasadena. Since the ’80s the family has transformed their city lot into an organic permaculture garden.

The yard features more than 350 varieties of plants which are either edible or used for other purposes. The garden supplies the family with their food year round.

The family sells some of their greens to local restaurants. Doing this gives them money to purchase solar panels and energy efficient appliances. The solar panels provide their home with power and they use a solar oven to cook food on sunny days.

(Note: news segment mistakenly mentions the goats were producing milk. They ARE dairy goats and can produce milk, but like all mammals, they only lactate when pregnant or nursing babies. We haven’t bred our two goats yet. )

We now live in a time when obesity has truly begun to spiral out of control. According to the United States, Center for Disease Control, the obesity epidemic has spread across all states, regions, and demographic groups

Being overweight is a serious health problem that’s been linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Recent studies show that one third of Americans are overweight.

In case you have not heard, America is now officially the most obese country in the world! We now have two out of three people overweight, and almost half of them officially obese. Obesity is not something to take lightly, pun intended. But you already know that. What I want to tell you is this: it is NOT your fault. Yes, you know the rules: if you take in more calories than what you use up, it will end up stored as fat. But why are you so compelled to eat more than you need to?

The biggest trap of all is the “convenience food” and “fast food”. It is now cheaper to eat at a fast food restaurant than to make a wholesome meal at home. Probably because of the scale of production, the industrial producers can make a “meal” for less than you could. Today food is less expensive than it ever was, but unfortunately you are getting exactly what you are paying for. Not much in the way of REAL nutrition.

Food Matters

A great number of health problems can be attributed to exposure to toxins. Toxicity from foreign chemicals (exotoxins) can cause damage to almost all organs of the body. Symptoms include: fatigue, headaches, neurological disorders, chemical sensitivities, immune dysfunction, and liver disorders. Food is often the main source of toxins. There are approximately 3,000 chemicals used by the food industry during processing. There are approximately 12,000 chemicals used in food packaging materials. Pesticides found in 90% of foods. In addition to these external sources of toxins, the body also produces toxins called, endotoxins resulting from digestion, immune system functions, stress, etc. Endotoxins may also be produces as the result of food allergies and sensitivities.

Increased intestinal permeability (leaky gut syndrome) can result in an increased absorption of exotoxins, endotoxins, antigens, and microorganisms. Candidiasis and intestinal microflora imbalances (dysbiosis), and parasitic infections increase the amount of toxins entering the circulation.

Congestive bowel toxicity can greatly increase the amount of endotoxins produced.

Diabetes

In one form or another we find sweeteners in almost everything that we eat or drink. They are disguised to appear harmless but they are far from harmless.

Sweeteners have any no nutritional value at all.

Sugar addiction is a complex process that starts with the stimulation of the sweet sensors in our mouth and ends with a twisted whole body immune response and a severely malfunctioning endocrine system. Sugars are known to cause massive dislocations in our endocrine system leading directly to a national obesity epidemic and the eventual and certain loss of the body’s ability to metabolize any sugar. The result of an out of control sugar addiction is often diabetes, obesity, kidney failure, blindness, amputation of the extremities and an early and miserable death. The price of allowing ourselves to be deceived by fraudulent labels and of failing to cope with a sugar addiction is very high.
