Side Effects of Calcium Channel Blockers

A whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers...

Because of their pharmacy-funded education, most doctors look to drugs to produce changes in a body. One of such glaring examples is their willingness to prescribe calcium channel blocker drugs (at orders of magnitude higher prices) while ignoring natural and effective alternatives.

The negative effects of calcium channel blockers on health are wide. The Mayo Clinic lists these:

  • Constipation
  • Headache
  • Rapid heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • Dizziness
  • Rash
  • Drowsiness
  • Flushing
  • Nausea
  • Swelling in the feet and lower legs

A natural calcium regulator is magnesium which has been found to have many beneficial health effects as described here:

Calcium channel blockers, or calcium antagonists, are so named because they block calcium from going into blood vessels and heart cells. This helps to relax and widen artery walls. Calcium channel blockers are used in the treatment of conditions such as hypertension, migraine headaches, arrhythmias and certain other circulatory problems. As Dr. Lloyd T. Iseri and Dr. James H. French reported in an editorial in the American Heart Journal, magnesium acts as a natural calcium antagonist, preventing negative effects of calcium excess, but unlike synthetic calcium blockers, magnesium enhances the activity of calcium.

If you are considering, or already using the calcium channel blockers, consider a more natural and dramatically less expensive option, topical magnesium. While it may be welcome in case of slow elimination, topical magnesium bypasses the side-effect of high oral magnesium intake, the bowel flush effect.

Topical magnesium can be used to conveniently boost your mineral levels, and block the effect of excess calcium in a natural way. You can choose from several options, topical spray, or gel, or even bath crystals.
