Eating for your Body Type More effective than the New!/More! Craze
The effectiveness of advertising message is it serving you, or the advertiser?
The advertising specialists have been honing their craft since the advent of the science of advertising over 100 years ago they now know which buttons to push. They have tested it in direct mail and with television advertising, newspapers and store displays. There is something in our brains that tells us to pay attention to change (the New switch) and to believe that more is better.
If you are considering a laundry detergent that is probably true: why would technological advances not make it possible to get more for less? After all, we did get about double the mileage from our cars with fuel injection and other tweaks. My smart phone has more computing power than the whole NASA had when they put the man on the moon And yet, clever product managers can hide a price increase behind a size change, or a new fresher label. Words don’t always correctly describe the facts. You can watch a very insightful report into labeling practices in this CBC MarketPlace report.
Labels claiming products are non-toxic, biodegradable and include natural ingredients. But are these common household products really as eco-conscious or as safe as you think?
When it comes to eating for your body type, old food is good, and modern is not necessarily an improvement from the perspective of fulfilling our nutrient needs. With food, hybridized is not great, and genetically modified is questionable. Why is that? Our ancestors lived in the same place for most of their lives. They had to adapt to the locally available food sources, or they did not make it to reproductive age. Seriously! If you were born as a child without the necessary genetics to thrive on the food available in your climate, you became weak, and succumbed to illness before you grew up. And if by chance you (as a girl) made it to maturity, child-birth was an extremely risky enterprise. You would likely be not strong enough to survive it.
Have you been thinking about the relationship between food and your genetics? Do you think there is much to the Paleo Diet and eating for your body type?
The worlds healthiest diet is based upon eating wholesome, contemporary foods from the food groups that our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have thrived on during the Paleolithic era, or Stone Age.
Today, we are mixing all races and all geographic locations in one genetic melting pot. What comes out are children that may be genetically ready to live on the sea shore in Ireland, or in the forests in Germany, or on the beach in equatorial Africa. A great example of this was the tragedy of native Americans, who are not able to handle high glycemic index foods: anything that converts into glucose fast. That starts with sugar, and alcohol, as well as all carbohydrate-rich foods, such as pasta, potato chips, corn chips, bread, donuts, candy bars and other fast food snacks. Is it possible that at least some of us need to declare the low-fat diet not-for-me, thank you? What are your thoughts on eating for your body type?
