Whenever you hear a medical doctor use the word “syndrome” it means that the condition does not fit into the model of medicine they practice – and that is each illness has to have a single cause. When you remove the cause or interrupt the symptom, you have “cured” it.

A syndrome does not have a single cause. There’s a whole bunch of stuff going on at the same time, and the poor doctor is confused.
