Alzheimers Disease

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, fatal illness that causes areas of the brain to shrink. The resulting symptoms start with memory loss and other cognitive deficits, advancing to major personality changes and eventual loss of control over bodily functions. The disease currently affects one in 10 people over age 65, and nearly half of those over 85. Many people experience mild memory losses with aging, but Alzheimer's creates a more noticeable and rapid decline in memory and other cognitive skills. If you become concerned about such mental changes in yourself or a loved one, it may be time to consult a physician.

The Main Stages of Alzheimer's Disease!

StageDefining Characteristics
Early-Stage Alzheimer's (Mild)Memory loss or other cognitive deficits are noticeable, yet the person can compensate for them and continue to function independently.
Mid-Stage Alzheimer's (Moderate)Mental abilities decline, personality changes, and physical problems develop so that the person becomes more dependent on caregivers.
Late-Stage Alzheimer's (Severe)Complete deterioration of personality and loss of control over bodily functions requires total dependence on others, for even the most basic activities of daily living.

The stages identify groups of symptoms that reflect more brain decay and increasing dependence. The end result of Alzheimer's is death, whether caused by the inability of the brain to keep the body functioning, or by another disease or injury along the way. By the middle stage of Alzheimer's, most victims are no longer aware that they don't remember things or aren't communicating coherently. This may be fortunate for them. In a safe environment with good care and social contact, most Alzheimer's patients seem relatively free of suffering.

For friends and relatives of Alzheimer's, the long steady decline of their loved one is painful to watch. The demands of care takes a toll, over the many years before inevitable death. Depression is more common among the caregivers of Alzheimer's patients, than among the patients themselves. It is important to recognize problems early, and get help for them. As the end of life approaches, the Alzheimer's patient may require around-the-clock care. It will be necessary for loved ones to decide whether that care can occur at home or in a facility. The guidance of a physician or a hospice team will be needed.

Possible Causes of Alzheimer's Disease!

Free radicals are considered to be the main cause of aging diseases, including coronary artery disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, bronchitis and periodontitis. Free radicals are also thought to be an important cause of Alzheimer's disease by causing oxidation of brain neurons. Other factors contributing may include inflammation, head trauma, heavy metals, viral infections, pesticides, electromagnetic fields, genetics, melatonin deficiency, acetylcholine deficiency, elevated homocysteine, high fat diet, depression, Vitamin B 12 deficiency, folic acid deficiency, hormone imbalances, lack of mental stimulation, and lack of physical exercise.

Magnesium Supplements!

Magnesium is the most important mineral the body requires for cellular health. It soothes the sympathetic nervous system (providing deeper rest), and is essential for the production of amino acids that are critical for virtually every chemical reaction in your body. When you restore vital magnesium to the body, you make cellular regeneration possible.

Antioxidants!

The"Antidote" for Free Radicals

Free radicals are undesirable products of your body's metabolic processes, caused by poor or insufficient nutrition, and from exposure to environmental pollutants. Every body has to contend with free radicals: many are unknowingly extinguished. To control larger amounts and to limit oxidative damage, your body needs help. Nature and science have given us protection from free radicals... antioxidants.

Superfoods!

High Amounts of Proper, Absorbable, Life-Giving Nutrition

Your immune system can naturally work efficiently to heal and maintain health. Your body naturally strives to be healthy. Given proper, absorbable, life giving nutrition from Superfoods, your immune system can work efficiently to heal and maintain health. Natural Superfood supplements are essential for proper nutrient absorption & toxin elimination, enabling a naturally healthy, pain free body. When you supplement your diet with Superfoods, your body receives nutrients that it requires to function properly and optimally. You'll see increased energy and vitality. And because Superfoods are whole food nutrition, you will not later experience a drop in energy, as you would from sugar and caffeine.

Amino Acids!

Essential Foundation for Health

Amino acids are the building blocks of systemic proteins, which are present in all your body tissues, including skin, nails, hair, blood, bone and brain cells. Thousands of different systemic proteins are constantly being manufactured from 20 different amino acids. Your body can manufacture 10 of these amino acids, the other 10 are considered essential, meaning they must be acquired from your diet.

Many diseases result when systemic protein production is inefficient or inadequate. But excesses of some amino acids can produce results as detrimental as deficiencies. Balance in the use of amino acids is of great importance.

Probiotics!

Aid Digestion, Promote Natural Immunity & Resistance to Diseases

Crucial for regaining and maintaining your health and vitality, probiotic supplements will favorably alter the balance of your intestinal bacteria. This will inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, promote good digestion, boost immune function, and increase your resistance to infection. Research has shown that probiotics must be taken regularly for your healthy internal bacterial balance to persist.

Energized Water!

Superior Hydration, For Maximum & Efficient Nutrient Absorption, and Toxin Elimination

Energized water has had its molecules returned to their original life-giving, super moisturizing state. This allows maximum moisture absorption into the cells of your body, pets and plants; a major key to healing, and the maintenance of health and vitality. Pure, natural, unpolluted spring water is naturally energized water. Since most of us have the mediocre water quality from commercial water producers or municipal services, we need to return tap water to its original, hydrating, life-giving state. Pure, energized, (living, restructured or cluster size reduced) water allows maximum moisture absorption into the cells of our bodies, pets and plants.

Exercise for Preventing Alzheimer's Disease!

Physical activity can help prevent Alzheimer's disease, as supported by a recent Finnish study showing that middle-age people taking regular exercise at least twice a week could reduce their risk of developing Alzheimer's disease by 50% in old age. On March 3, 2005, Dr. Miia Kivipelto (neurologist and Alzheimer's disease specialist at Stockholm's Gerontology Research Center) told an Amsterdam conference on old age, organized by Britain's Royal College of Psychiatrists.

"An active lifestyle, both physical, mental and social, is preventive. It's never too early to start to prevent Alzheimer's disease."

Regular exercise and a healthy diet could go a long way to reducing the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, she said, adding that studies have shown that people with high blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity could have a greater risk of Alzheimer's or other dementia than those with a more active, healthy lifestyle.
