Heartburn (acid reflux or gastro esophageal reflux disease/GERD) comes when your digestive power is too weak, you digest food slowly. It sits in your stomach and causes heartburn, bloating and pain.

Heartburn is from TOO LITTLE DIGESTIVE POWER, not too much.

There are several factors that contribute to the loss of stomach acid. The top reason is insufficient mineral intake, particularly of salts. The chlorides in salt (sodium, potassium or magnesium chloride) are the building blocks for hydrochloric acid.

The source really matters. Just like white refined sugar, there is white refined salt!

Refined table salt has been through chemical processes that strip out the minerals leaving nearly pure sodium chloride in the end product with some anti-flocculants and stabilizing chemicals that act as neurotoxins. People should avoid refined salt because of its toxic effects. Yet, you need salt, the good kind!

Other reasons for the decline in stomach acid:
1. Over eating
2. Too much cooked food (every meal should be at least 50% raw)
3. Heavy meat diet (large portions, too often)
4. Refined Salt

Over Eating

Your stomach is the size of your fist! Eating a large meal makes it hard to digest. It can take days to recover! Do not eat another meal until your stomach is already empty. Food Combining (one concentrated food per meal) will greatly speed up digestion.

Cooked Food

Most of your digestion happens by enzymatic processes. Enzymes break down food and make nutrients available for absorption. The enzymes are living structures that break down at 118 F! When you eat cooked food you force your body to produce the enzymes! You have to supplement digestive enzymes if you eat cooked food. Forcing your body to produce the enzymes weakens you over time. Getting enzymes with your food frees your body to heal and rebuild. Do not fall for the fallacy of thinking that enzyme supplementation makes your body “lazy”, it makes you age slower.

Heavy Meat Diet

Meat requires a lot of hydrochloric acid to digest properly. Carnivores saturate so much acid, their blood is acidic! Human blood is ideally alkaline at 7.35; therefore we don’t store large levels of acid for digestion. One metabolic type copes with proteins and fats well, the other does not. Digestion of meat leaves behind irritating acids. If you are built to live on fruits and vegetables, too much meat consumption is most likely the biggest cause of your acid reflux.

Acid Reflux

Acid reflux, also called heartburn or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), is linked to insufficient production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach (not too much of it as the pharma advertising is telling you). With deficient HCl the food sits in your stomach longer than it is supposed to. It is not properly digested, causing it to ferment, building up lactic acid and other metabolic acids. These acids result in the sour feeling. With the increased gas pressure it can regurgitate back up into the esophagus.

Uninformed people take antacids to suppress the HCl even more. At first this feels better, because the under-digested food is pushed out of the stomach. You are downloading the problem from your stomach into your intestine. You will absorb less nutrients and you will cause other complications.

The solution is more hydrochloric acid.
